Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Lip Waxing.

Most clients enjoy smooth upper lip for three to six weeks, depending on hair growth and individual cycle. Regular appointments can extend time between services; growth rate, hormones, and aftercare influence longevity.

Some stinging or tugging is normal but brief. To reduce discomfort, avoid caffeine beforehand, take ibuprofen if appropriate, breathe deeply, and consider a topical numbing cream if you're especially sensitive.

Come with clean, makeup-free skin and hair about 1/4 inch long for optimal grip. Avoid retinoids, chemical peels, or strong exfoliants for at least one week, and inform the technician about medications or skin conditions.

Aftercare includes avoiding heat, heavy sweating, direct sun, and makeup for 24 hours. Use gentle cleansing, apply soothing aloe or antiseptic products if needed, and exfoliate lightly after several days to prevent ingrown hairs.

Mild redness or bumps can occur; ingrown hairs are possible with any hair removal method. Prevent them with regular gentle exfoliation, avoid picking, keep the area clean, and seek professional aftercare if persistent or severe.

Not recommended for those on isotretinoin or with active cold sores, sunburn, or open wounds. Pregnant clients are generally safe but should consult a provider if concerned. Always disclose medications and recent skin treatments.
